PLAYGROUND FOR 25TH STREET PARK

The 25th Street playground is a small neighborhood "pocket" park just east of La Venture Street and between Section and Division Streets.  It was historically underdeveloped with just a baseball backstop because the park also serves partially as a detention pond for the wet, winter months.  The Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon reached out to the Mount Vernon Parks and Enrichment Services Department and together developed a plan to add enjoyable playground amenities and attractive landscaping.  The Kiwanis Club then raised and donated $45,000 to construct Phase 1. That’s when Mount Vernon Parks Foundation joined with Kiwanis and the Parks Department to steward funds and help raise awareness about the planned improvements for 25th Street Park.  Construction of the new playground, including picnic tables and access walkways, were completed in the summer of 2022!

The Phase 2 proposal for the 25th Street Park project includes additional walkway improvements and landscaping. Your support will provide this neighborhood and its young families with a great space for healthy activities.  Please consider making a donation today!
